If you want to make absolutely certain that you don’t have to worry about catching a sunburn while you are lifeguarding (either at the beach or the pool), you’re going to want to pay close attention to all of the inside information we are able to share with you below.
Believe or not, lifeguards are some of the savviest people about keeping other people safe, but aren’t always doing such a great job at making sure that they themselves are completely protected at all times – especially when it comes to something as innocent appearing as sunlight.
But because lifeguards are going to be exposed to a tremendous amount of sun on a daily basis they need to make sure that they are as protected from sunburns as humanly possible – and that’s where these tips and tricks come into play.
Get your hands on a quality sunscreen and refresh regularly
You are definitely going to want to make sure that you get your hands on the best quality “lifeguard lotion” you can find, one with an SPF level that would protect you even if you were spending time on Mercury or Mars!
On top of that, you’ll want to make sure that you regularly refresh the amount of lifeguard lotion you will be wearing throughout the day. An ounce of sunscreen applied to your body every two hours should be more than enough to keep you safe, but on particularly sunny days you might want to add a little bit extra every 30 minutes to make sure that you never burn.
Get your hands on a quality hat
Though there is something to be said about that super cool lifeguard up in their tower with nothing more than a pair of red shorts, a whistle, and some aviator sunglasses, unless you want to come down with a nasty case of sunburn – and possibly even some skin cancer – you want to purchase a quality lifeguard hat or lifeguard cap.
You need something that will cover your face, protect your eyes, and give you the kind of shade that you require. Even a lifeguard visor will usually be more than enough to keep you protected while at the same time allows you to catch the kind of tan that you are after in the first place!
At the end of the day, there are a bunch of different things you can do to protect yourself from sun damage. Pay attention to the tips and tricks we’ve provided above and you’ll be all right!
